Tips to help your skin feel better
This time of year can be tricky when it comes to your skin. The harsher light means you may notice your complexion lacks moisture and firmness and the signs of aging, such a fine line lines are more visible, and the cold air is making the skin look more pigmented, generally January can have a depressive affect on the skin – don’t you just want to hug down in front of the fire with a good book!
By the time you reach your 40’s, your skin would have lost 50% of natural hyaluronic acid reserves, meaning that skin start to look less plumped and smooth. This is the time to pay extra attention to your skin, maintain & keep to a skincare routine (skin loves consistency) so choose a product(s) that have triple benefits: hydrating, moisturising and clinically proven anti-aging benefits – so choose products with the following ingredients that actively helps improve the skin which will help your skin feel better such as:
- Glycerine, Hyaluronic Acid and Panthenol (Vitamin B5) – work as humectants that actively retains water molecules to hydrate your skin giving impressive results to the skin and keeps the skin plumped and hydrated.
- Moisturising agents found in omega rich oils such as Olive, Rice Bran, Pomegranate, Rosehip Seed, Chia Seed, Calendula Seed to name a few – a cream with a high natural oil content will help your skin to feel better especially during the cold winter months. Plant oils are designed to not only moisturise the deeper epidermal layer of the skin but also works as occulusive layer to reduce TWL (Trans-epidermal Water Loss) ie to stop our skin from trying out!
- And not forgetting a few anti-aging ingredients, such as Co-enzyme Q10 (found in our Renewal Night Oil Complex), Vitamin C- Sodium Asorbyl Phosphate (as found in our Hydra-Intense Vitamin C Serum) Niacinamide (found in our B3 Face Cream) and Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate) (found in our Renewal Night Oil Complex) all are clinically proven to improve skin tone, reduce pigmentation and to make your skin feel better – after all it is not really about anti-aging, more about pro-aging – how to look your best at any age – we can’t turn the clock back but we can look aim to look at any age!!
The key to great looking skin is to find products that are only pleasurable to use (which ours are!! :)), with wonderful textures that suit your skin so it will be a joy to use as part of your routine. You don’t need to pile on the product just choose a product with good natural ingredients so that it blends tradition with cutting-edge science inspired by nature like Vitamin A – exists in different forms inside the body, and there are different forms of it in skincare products. With the right products, staying hydrated makes all the difference to your complexion.
And keeping hydrated internally will also help your skin, the drying effects for central heating, log fires, hot baths all play havoc on the skin, so drink lots of water, or if you can’t face water, try herbal tea, my favourite is Pukka Herbs Peppermint and Licorice – it gives just the right amount of flavouring – not too minty and not to sweet perfect for a beautiful cup of tea.
Fennel Tea, which I love too…known to help with digestion – and that will help you and your skin to look and feel better.
