Can we really improve the overall appearance of our necks using “neck” creams and possibly exercise? So I did some searching.
The skin on the neck ages faster due to their being fewer oil glands, the skin gets drier, loses elasticity and wrinkles faster. There are also fewer melanocytes – the cells that make the pigment that protects our skin from sun damage.
Sagging Skin is the result of over stretching of Elastin; Elastin is a highly elastic protein in the connective tissue and allows many tissues in the body to resume their shape after stretching or contracting. Sun exposure, smoking, and weight loss all contribute to the development of sagging skin. Wrinkles are formed when the collagen in our skin ages becomes hard, less flexible, weaker, caves and bends, forming winkles.
BUT good news is…..The synthetics of collagen can be improved by using products that contain
- · Vitamin C
- · Co-Enzyme Q10,
- · Anti-oxidising Plant Oils
- · AhA’s
- · Niacinamide & Glucosamine
All these ingredients can be found in our lovely Skin Essentials range, to help improve firmness and vitality to your neck, face and chest. So for time being we will not be formulating a specific “neck” cream unless we come across a miracle natural anti-aging firming (and all dancing) ingredient!
By giving this area just as much love and attention as your face is the most basic way of keeping ageing Necks at bay.
But, can excerises work too?
According to cosmetic surgeon Rajiv Grover. ‘It’s hardly a scientific view,’ he says, ‘but among all the patients I have seen in 15 years, the ones who do facial exercises tend to look younger than those who don’t.’ (Daily Mail)
With Collagen being connected to the fibrous tissue of the muscles, firming of the skin can be encouraged with gentle exercise. So it makes sense to exercise this area to keep those chins from sagging! Just look at all those muscles in this diagram, it must be worth a try!
